Find the answer Keep the source in sight

Knowledge & document AI

Help staff find relevant knowledge, check supporting sources and turn documents into structured information for review.

When finding the answer takes longer than using it

For operations and knowledge owners working with IT to make internal documents easier to find, understand and use.

True North AI builds internal search and document workflows for information your team is authorized to use. Staff can retrieve source-linked answers or review extracted document fields. We test permissions, conflicting sources, missing answers and extraction quality against an agreed sample, and assign ownership for keeping the source collection current.

  • Staff search several folders and ask colleagues before finding the current answer.
  • Useful-looking summaries arrive without enough evidence to check their claims.
  • Teams manually retype information from documents and repair extraction mistakes later.

A scope you can inspect

Agree what gets delivered, what good work looks like, and who takes ownership. Open each part to explore the detail.

A defined source collection

Work starts with information your team can trust.

An inventory identifies relevant material, its owners and update needs, including duplicate, outdated or conflicting documents that could mislead the workflow.

A question we resolve together

Which documents are current, who owns them and who may use them?

Answers with reviewable sources

People can inspect the material behind an answer.

Where the source format supports it, references let staff inspect the material behind an answer and check whether it supports the statement.

A question we resolve together

Does the cited material support the answer being given?

Structured document outputs

Document fields arrive ready for review.

Agreed fields and validation checks turn selected document types into reviewable records, with uncertain or missing values sent for attention.

A question we resolve together

Which fields must be checked, and how are uncertain values handled?

Access and quality tests

Permissions and difficult cases are tested early.

Tests cover authorized access, excluded material, difficult questions and extraction errors so the team can inspect the limits before wider use.

A question we resolve together

Can authorized users find the right material while restricted content stays excluded?

Make accuracy something you can check

Useful information needs a source, an owner and a way to review it. We test answers and document fields against agreed examples, including missing or conflicting information.

Our approach to measurement

Evidence for the decision

Answer correctness on agreed test questions
Compare answers with a reviewed set that includes difficult and unanswerable questions.
Whether cited sources support the answer
Inspect the supporting passage, not just the presence of a reference.
Extraction accuracy and correction effort
Check selected fields and the staff effort needed to correct or complete them.
Access-test results and source freshness
Test permitted and restricted cases and review whether source material is current.

Agree the starting point, review period and accountable owner before comparing results.

From the first conversation to useful work

Bring a bounded document collection, a few questions or fields your team needs, and the owner of the information. We will review source quality, permissions and the work to support.

  1. Choose the information task

Decide whether the first need is finding an answer, summarizing material or extracting data. Give it a clear owner and output standard.

  2. Check content and access

Review source quality, permissions, retention needs and connection options. Resolve gaps that would make the intended workflow unreliable or inappropriate.

  3. Test against real examples

Compare outputs with reviewed answers and document fields. Include cases with no answer, conflicting sources and poor scans where relevant.

  4. Make upkeep explicit

Train reviewers and assign responsibility for source updates, access changes and recurring quality checks as the collection evolves.

Does a citation mean an answer is correct?

No. A reference gives the reviewer something to inspect. Evaluation must also check that the source supports the claim and that the answer addresses the question accurately.

Can everyone search every document?

Access should follow the requirements agreed with your organization. We assess how the selected system handles permissions and test permitted and restricted cases before rollout.

Do we need to clean up all our documents first?

Start with a bounded collection and assess it. Some cleanup may be necessary, especially when ownership, current versions or access rights are unclear. That work belongs in the scope.
